Define the space and how it will be used
Say whether the surface will carry pedestrians or vehicles, what paving is there and whether it needs removing. Include area, machinery access, slopes and drainage points. For an apartment building, explain who coordinates the request on behalf of the owners.
Compare the complete scope of work
Ask for separate items for base preparation, waste removal, concrete, reinforcement where appropriate, joints, finish and surface protection. Ask what thickness and specifications the company proposes for the intended use and what drainage work is included.
Finish, maintenance and bringing the surface into use
Ask for colour and texture samples, previous work references and maintenance instructions. Confirm when the paving can be walked or driven on. The quotation should clarify taxes, additional work and how changes will be approved; there is no universal price per square metre.
